How Do Search Engines Work!?

Currently search engines have 2 basic functions:

  1. Indexing documents, files media and news
  2. Providing answers to users queries.
They rank and retrieve this information based on relevance, ranking.

The Search Engine is a big storage unit of information like an old card catalog at the library.  It stores all the information, indexes it and categorizes it for purposes for someone like you to one day search for a particular topic.  It then spits out the most relevant information to your search based on entries in the catalog containing words that mostly closely match your query.

This is the first thing.  If you are looking for ranking in search engines for your website, does the content on the first page of your website as well as the keywords and title tags match what people will be searching you on?

If the answer is not yes. Changes need to be made...
