Women in Business - II

Please make sure to read our first article Woman in Business -Part I before reading the second part below.

- You are tough

To quote Kelly Clarkson, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Don't underestimate the load you can manage or your ability to stick out tough situations. Each win will help you you grow smarter and more confident. If you have a tough decision to make, sleep on it. Problems usually seem less significant with a little time. Your initial observation of the situation may be wrong and a knee-jerk reaction may be too extreme.

- Women are nice and want to be friends...

OMG so not true. Some of the meanest business people I’ve met in my business career have been women. I am are not talking about driven or focused women, I’m talking about the real bit** that will stick her stilettos deep into your back as she climbs her way up the proverbial ladder. Or the "friend" who you think has your back, only to find out later she’s using the info you shared over cocktails to sabotage your new project. Be careful who you trust.

- Don't Become Cynical, Become Wise

Over the years I have been scammed, not paid by clients or screwed by employees, hurt by colleagues and defamed by family. I have developed a protective outer layer, which I have filled with my questioning ability and time. This helps me make better decisions and more informed choices. I still believe in taking chances, just more calculated and informed risks. People are basically good. I will never stop taking chances, but I will make sure they informed and wise chances.

In conclusion, I love being a business owner. I love being a woman. I think it gives me a unique perspective on business. I learn everyday and provide a quality product with lasting value. I love owning Penguin Suits and being the Head Storyteller.

Let me know your thoughts on being a business owner woman or man.
