Business to Business - Social Marketing Strategy - Part 5

Social is fun and it works

Adhering to a strategic plan will help give a sense of order to your B2B social media marketing. The truth is that B2B social media works best as a tool that you can use to gently influence your targeted audience. It’s important that you never come off as a spammer fishing for leads. Instead, you should make a genuine effort to join conversations and add value to them. By doing this you will present your brand in the best possible light. The ultimate goal is to ensure that each of your potential clients has laid eyes on your brand before you initiate first contact with them.

Tips for running B2B paid ads on platforms:

Social Media advertising is one of the top 5 forms of advertising in 2015, just above direct marketing.

Here are some things to keep in mind when using paid ads on social media:
  • Main feed ads have more visibility than side ads
  • Keep a cap on budgets, monitor campaigns for effectiveness, easily adjusted and changed
  • Maintain strict guidelines on content for your ads
There are strategies you can use to maximize an ad budget for each of the major social media platforms:
  • Twitter ads: use targeted keywords, interests and companies. Targeting interests provides a smaller, more concentrated audience and can offer better results. Try a broader one, too, and compare the results.
  • LinkedIn ads: to maximize your impressions, target the larger job title group and the larger group of industries.
  • Facebook ads: target your audience using very specific key words, customize scheduling time and monitor budget for clicks to learn what works. Utilize the boost function for regular posts but follow rules and monitor traffic.
  • Pinterest ads: aesthetics and content of ads are very important. Ads that include a commercial call to action (like "click to buy") are not allowed.
  • YouTube ads: choose your audience, set your budget and select videos your audience is interested in
  • Instagram: currently limits ads to a select group of advertisers
I hope these marketing tips make your campaigns more effective.
