Beware of Bogus Domain Renewals

Did you ever get a renewal notice in the mail for your domain from a company you've never heard of? If you look closely, you'll see that it's not a bill, but they tell you that you need to act now to renew your domain or risk losing your website.

Just throw it away. When you purchase a domain name, your domain and your contact information is registered in a database and anyone can access the information. They can solicit you, but they do not have control of your domain name.

The original company you purchased your domain through (like Penguin Suits, Go Daddy or Enom) is who you renew it with.

If you get a notice like this - just toss it. Seriously. It is not real.

Just deal with the company you bought it from.

I hope these marketing tips make your campaigns more effective.
