Why Your Website Must be Reponsive

Mobile usage has exploded. Your website is being viewed more and more on mobile devices. If your website can not be viewed and navigated cleanly and easily on mobile devices you are losing traffic and sales. I know you have a site, hmm; how can I get you to stop ignoring the need for a mobile website? Let's try this:

- Over 20% of Google searches are performed on a mobile device.
- In 2012, more than half of local searches were performed on a mobile device.
- In the US, 25% of internet users only access the internet on a mobile device.
- 61% have a better opinion of brands when they offer a good mobile experience.
- 25.85% of all emails are opened on phones, and 10.16% are opened on tablets. (stats from Smart Insights)

So what do these statistics mean for your website?

1) You must provide your user with a positive experience or they will go some place. If a user can not find what they are looking for quickly, they will leave.

2) Blogging and social activity brings mobile visitors. If you are active on social media and your website is not responsive the user will become frustrated and leave.

3) Responsive designs get higher ranking. Google prefers responsive sites and therefore they are ranked higher. Ranking higher gets more traffic.

4) Responsive sites perform better than a separate mobile site. Google ranks them higher and therefore you get more traffic and exposure.

5) Responsive adapts to future devices. The site is designed based on screen size not device. This means no matter what the screen size is, the website will display properly for that screen size.

In the future it will be extremely critical that your website gives mobile users and easy-to-use experience. Having a mobile website is no longer simply a nice feature -- it is a necessity and literally impacts the growth of your business.
